So excited to be adding new dates to my agenda. Local Anaesthetic refresher courses for dental hygienists and dental therapists - dotted around the country, and more extended duties course for qualified dental nurses.
This time I am introducing a new format AND a new venue. I have been lucky to aquire the A'dec showroom in Nuneaton - so central and easy to get to.
I have also looked at a new format. Day one will be a foundation day. Any candidates who have not attended one of my courses before will be expected to attend this. This is the most important day, as it goes into detail about the transition from assitant to clinicain. All of these courses move the dental nurse into a 'hands on' role so patient management, communication skills are covered as well as the practical aspects of holding a mirror, positioning the patient, adjusting the light etc. Not as easy as it looks! We also go through cotton wool isolation and developing manual dexterity. The legalities such as obtaining consent and writing up contemporaneous notes are all covered. On foundation day we will also look at looking around the mouth, and covering oral lesions in hard and soft tissue, not to diagnose of course, but merely to recognise what is normal oand what is suspicious and needs to be shown to the dentist.
Having attended day one - Foundation, you are free to pick which ever course appeals to you. You may choose to do all in which case a discount is available. I am already registering dental nurses now - so please get in touch if you are interested.
Also new in this format is a one day course on impression taking. I will be welcoming Myra Cameron a fellow tutor from the Eastman Dental Hospital who has offered to run this day with me. It will be great to work with her again!
